Shannon and i were the best of friends through nursing school and a few years following. We lost touch over the years...sadly. I will remember all of our fun trips...Mexico, Fl., Ocean City. Dear Mathew I have known you since you were 1 or 2 years old,when I first met your sister and your family.I have always known that you have a beautiful and kind heart(much like your Mother)...know that our family is thinking of you at this very trying time,I am so sorry for your loss...I have written this poem in memory of Shannon for you. Some things in life happen that we can never explain. They rip at your heart and cause so much pain. There must be a reason so it is said. To lose those who you love to remember those who have bled. Teaches you something we have yet to learn. Grieving those we have lost Somehow,makes the world turn. When first intoducing Shannon to the farm-and your life. At the time not knowing That she'd soon be your wife. She fell instantly in love with all that you do. The way that you cared and all that you've been through. I never met Shannon and know she must have touched many hearts in her life. She especially touched Matt's heart and even though their life together was a blink of an eye, I am certain Matt's love will continue in eternity. It's hard to understand why a person so beautiful and so young is taken early. Perhaps God loaned an angel to the world by the name of Shannon. My thoughts and prayers go to Matt and to Shannon's friends and family. Brucie has a way of saying the right things in his songs and I will borrow a few of these words from 'Terry's Song': "They say you can't take it with you, but I think that they're wrong, 'Cause all I know is I woke up this morning, and something big was gone Gone into that dark ether where you're still young and hard and cold Just like when they built you, brother, they broke the mold" Well, when they built Shannon, they sure did break the mold.

Well they built the Titanic to be one of a kind, but many ships have ruled the seas They built the Eiffel Tower to stand alone, but they could build another if they please Taj Mahal, the pyramids of Egypt, are unique I suppose But when they built you, Shannon, they broke the mold Now the world is filled with many wonders under the passing sun And sometimes something comes along and you know it's for sure the only one The Mona Lisa, the David, the Sistine Chapel, Jesus, Mary, and Joe And when they built you, Shannon, they broke the mold. Shannon, thanks for making my friend the happiest he's ever been and for giving him good memories that will last the rest of his life. Rest easy.
