Obituary of Rita Jackamets
Rita Jackamets, 93, of Howell, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Mrs. Jackamets was born in Russia and came to the U.S. in 1949 settling in New York City. She moved to Lakewood in 1960 and then to Howell in 2008. She was a member of St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Church, Howell. Mrs. Jackamets was a graduate of Heidelberg University, Germany. She retired as a nurse from Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Prior to that, she was a nurse at Mt. Sinai Hospital and the French Hospital, both in New York City.
She was predeceased by her husbands, George Birzin and Michael Jackamets, MD. Mrs. Jackamets is survived by two sons, Alex Birzin and his wife Milagros of Ocean Township, and Andrei Jackamets and Cynthia Campbell of Howell; a sister, Valentine Barker of Jackson; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three nieces; a grandniece; and dear friends, Margaret Holliday and Janice Frostick.
Her pannyhida will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 at St. Alexander Nevsky R.O. Cathedral, 200 Alexander Ave., Howell, NJ 07731. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25 at the cathedral. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lakewood.
