Obituary of Stosh Janczewski
Stosh Janczewski, 74, of Freehold Twp. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 26th, surrounded by his loving family after a long struggle with ALS and Lymes Disease. Stosh was born in Gdynia, Poland, in 1935, and moved to the U.S. in 1947. He had lived in Howell Twp. before moving to Freehold Twp in 1964.
A graduate of Freehold High School, Stosh, served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He owned and operated "Stosh's Auto Body" in Farmingdale in the 1960's and 1970's. In later years, he managed several area auto body shops and he also did insurance appraisal work. He retired in 2007.
He was predeceased by his father and mother, Marian and Wanda Janczewski, a son, baby, Lee Janczewski; his father-in-law, John Cahoon, and a grandson, Timothy Edward Janczewski.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 ½ years, Deanie; 3 sons and 3 daughters-in-law: Eddie Janczewski, and his wife, Carol; John Janczewski, and his wife, Kristine and Eric Janczewski, and his wife, Beth; 3 daughters and 3 sons-in-law, Bonnie McMahon, and her husband, Kevin; Diane Pipher and her husband, Kenny, and Shelly Romano, and her husband, Carmine; 11 cherished grandchildren; Kenny, Danielle, Nick, Katelyne, Justine, Carmine, Elise, Holly, Michael, Christopher and Emily. Also surviving are his brother and former sister-in-law, Butch Janczewski and Jo-Ann Colon; his mother-in-law, Lucille Cahoon, In-laws, Rose Lee and Bob Kardos, Wanda Cahoon and fiancée, Bryan Tearney, along with 4 nephews, Darren, Kevin, Stephen and David.
Stosh was an avid fisherman, all-around outdoorsman and a dedicated NASCAR fan. A proud and dedicated family man, Stosh treasured the time spent with his family and friends. He made a difference in so many people's lives. He will be truly missed by his family, friends, and all those he touched in his life. He will be always remembered for his smile and a funny story.
As quoted in his yearbook, Stosh Janczewski, "makes a friend of an enemy, no use staying on the ground, he's heading for the sky."
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Twp. on Thursday, October 1st, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Family and friends may gather at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 2nd at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by his 11:30 Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Twp.
