Sorry to hear about Gary. I just saw the notice. He didn't know me personally but he would have recognized me back in the bodybuilding days. We competed against each other and I was always impressed with his symmetry. My heart goes out to his family and I'm sure he's at peace now.

To the Priccaciante family, It has just been brought to my attention by Sheriff Frank Provenzano of the Somerset County Sheriff's Department, the passing of our Police Academy classmate, Gary Priccacante. I had the pleasure of meeting Gary in the 107th New Jersey State Police Municipal Police Class in Sea Girt, N.J. Although we lost touch after graduation, Gary stood out among our classmates as one that I knew would succeed as a true professional. I didn't know that Gary had transferred from the Matawan PD to the Howell Township PD, but am not surprised to see that he ascended to chief in a relatively short time. I am truly saddened by this news and wanted to express my sincere condolences to Gary's family members. May God bless you all during this most difficult time. Don Stouthamer Chief of Police Wayne Police Department
So sorry for your lost, Willie told me story about Gary in Matawan High,I met Gary when he was in the police dept of Matawan with Det Stanley Parrish. He will be missed, Wathingtin Family.
Carole,Lisa,Tina and Lynn,I wish to express my deepest feelings of Sympathy on the passing of Gary/Dad.I will always cherish my fond memories of Gary. I remember when I was an applicant for the Howlltownship Police Department there were a few hundred of us lined up to take the Physical portion when Gary came marching into the room!He displayed the Mannerism,Professionalism and the APPEARANCE of the true epitome of what I believed a Police Officer should be. Gary was a true Leader of of a great group of officers representing a very highly respected Police Department. He inspired us to be the best police officers that we could be and in doing so the Township of Howell was Protected and Served by a truly Dedicated Police Department.Gary led by example,he would never ask an officer to do something that he himself would not do.I had observed many times when Gary would assign the less desirable tasks to himself. What was foremost in Gary's mind and heart was the successful conclusion of the investigation at hand.I believe that I had such a Great and Memorable police career was due to the Guidance and Inspiration of Gary. Over the years I had the opportunity to work with various Local,County,State and Federal Agencies in which I was often asked "How's that Detective Captain-Gary, the one with all the muscles doing?" They all had great things to say about working cases with him and I knew no matter what level their Agency was they all respected Gary.I know I am know lined up with a vast number of PROUD Police Officers saluting the memory of a Great Husband,Father,Family man and A Truly Inspirational Leader. May God Bless you through your tough days ahead and always "Keep the Faith" Love Dennis and Jackie Scott A Proud Retired Captain of The Howelltownship Police Department..
GARY PRICCACIANTE, To my best friend, my role model, mentor and the Finest Law Enforcement Professional I ever had the privilege to work with. Gary, in a life of good fortune and through your courageous battle with your illness, you valued above all the gracious gift of your wife, Carol, your entire family, your daughters, Lisa, Lynn, and Tina, and your brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren and Carol's family. Gary, since I will not be speaking at your service. I must express our forty-two year friendship in the following time capsule: Gary, you were my big brother and guided me into our Law Enforcement Profession. The law enforcement officers from Howell Township and from all over the State of New Jersey honor you, for your loyalty and the love you gave throughout your life until your journey's end. Gary, on Wednesday, 10/14/09, our entire Law Enforcement Community and your friends grieve with your family for our loss. I would be remiss if I didn't recognize your former wife, Judy, and how I became a member of your family. From the first day I met you, I became part of your family; I loved the Sunday dinners at your home, and that your former wife, Judy, welcomed me with open arms, and the love of your entire family was a wonderful time in my life - I will cherish these memories forever. Also, watching your beautiful daughters grow-up and when Tina was born honoring me with becoming her GODFATHER, was a proud honor for me. GARY, WE LOOK FOR THE FINE DAY WHEN WE WILL SEE YOU AGAIN, ALL WEARINESS GONE, CLEAR OF MIND, STRONG AND SURE AND SMILING AGAIN, AND THE SORROW OF THIS PARTING GONE FOREVER. GARY, IN CLOSING I LOVED YOU, MY BROTHER, AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE TO CLOSE TO MY HEART, AND I WILL DEDICATE EVERY WORKOUT TO YOUR LASTING MEMORY UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN. LOVE, MIKE
Carole and family, My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please know that I am thinking of you and your family at this difficult time. Tina Casella
The Priccicante Family, I am very sorry for your loss. Gary was a good friend, a dedicated, caring, and professional Police Officer. Gary, would never ask a subordinate to do something he himself would not do. I first met Gary when he was a judging a body building competition I was in. He was a great role model for all. Carole, I know this is a hard time and may God provide you the strength and guidence to deal with the tough days that lie ahead. I am very sorry I can't get back to New Jersey for his service. I will forever remember him for all his accomplishments. He was one of the fine officers that made the Howell Township Police Department what it is today. Thank You Gary, I will miss you.
Carol and Gary's family. I am lost without my older brother. In 1974 while in under graduate school I took an inter ship with the Howell police, and rode with Michael Cohen. Mike in turn introduced me to Gary and the rest became history. I had the honor and distinct privilege to work directly under his tutelage in 1982 and again when he became Chief. He forged and help mold me into the type of police officer that I inspired to become. I did my best to make him and the Howell police a proud law enforcement agency. We became good friends and remain that way long after we both retired. Carol you can take comfort in knowing that you made Gary very happy. The proof came while Liz and I had that twentieth anniversary dinner in Aruba with the two of you. You know the picture, high up on the hill, backs to the ocean the sun was setting, leaving a glow on your faces. I said it doesn't get any better than this. and then came the smiles.
Dear Carole Mike and I will always remember the outings to Virginia and Pa, thank you for your warmth and hospitality! Thank you for including us in your life with Gary. Hugs and please if there is anything I or Mike can do during this time please let us know. love Liz and Mike
Dear Carole and Family You are in my prayers and hope that the happy memories of your life with Gary will warm your heart during this difficult period. Fondly Liz
I want to offer my heartfelt condolences to all in the Priccaciante family. Not many may know that, back in Matawan, Gary was very much a mentor of sorts to me. Gary was always a man's man...a family man, and a great leader. I was truly happy to be able to call myself his friend. Though I lost touch over the years, I followed his MANY achievements from afar--through his great friend Michael Cohen, as well as his many other friends. I was always so very happy for him. It may seem corny, yet many of my first impressions of Gary, both physically and through his demeanor helped create my present way of life. You will be missed sorely, and ALWAYS remembered. RIP Gary.
Your family is in our thoughts and prayers at this time of sorrow. Gary was a great person to work with and I (Jeff) will never forget him. I hold so many good memories. Your family was blessed to have him in your lifes. Wish we could be there for the service but we reside in Florida now. May he rest in peace. Jeff and Margaret Graham
