Obituary of Thomas Devlin
Thomas J. Devlin Jr., 65, of Manalapan, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Devlin was born in Orange and had lived in Howell before moving to Manalapan two years ago. He grew up in Ocean Grove and attended Lebanon Valley College and Brookdale Community College. Mr. Devlin worked as a computer technician of Qualix-Serv in Tewksbury, Mass. Tom was a member of the Episcopal Diocese of N.J. Oysters and Pearls; A Ministry of Irritation (Ministry with the Disabled). He was a communicant of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Freehold and of St. John Divine Cathedral. Tom was also a member of the Howell Historical Society. His hobbies he enjoyed were reading, history, working with computers and collecting trains. He served in various positions as a BSA Leader. Tom's favorite thing in life was being with his wife, together they did community theater, where he designed and built creative and elaborate stage sets.
Mr. Devlin was predeceased by his son, Thomas Alan, in February 2008. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ida "Donna" Devlin of Manalapan; a daughter, Tracy Devlin-Ferragamo of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Thomas John Ferragamo, Samantha Marie Farragamo, Cole Robert Gardner, Sean Gardner, and Carl Gardner; one brother, Michael "Bucky" Devlin of Forked River; and a special uncle, Daniel and his wife Sarah Devlin of Long Island.
There will be a memorial service at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 33 Throckmorton St., Freehold, day and time to be announced. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Thomas may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Attn: Adopt a Family Program, 33 Throckmorton St., Freehold, NJ 07728, and would be appreciated.
