Obituary of Susan Hall
Susan E. Hall, 50, of Farmingdale, left us peacefully on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at home, with her loving family. She courageously fought her battle with leiomyosarcoma for five years and put up a valiant fight. Susan always had a very green thumb and was the proud owner of The Friendly Vegetable Farm in Farmingdale, where she grew many flowers and plants, sold fresh produce, fall pumpkins and Christmas trees. She also worked as a nurse for almost 20 years in the local area. She was employed by Applewood Estates, where she cared for the elderly, by Meridian, where she cared for the terminally ill and at a local group home, where she cared for those with special needs. The group home became very dear to her because she loved the residents there as if they were her children and they loved her just as much.
Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and daughter. She was predeceased by her father, Harry Megill. She is survived by her husband, Ralph "Junebug"; four sons, Steven Hall, David Hall, William Timmerman, and Ralph Hall, daughter-in-law, Marybeth; three grandsons, Ralph, Ryan and Rocco; sister, Kathy Tremper and brother-in-law Bill; nieces, Jennifer and Cindy; and nephew, Kevin Dennen; and her mother, Betty R. Megill.
Throughout her life, she always gave so much of her self. She never wavered nor tired when it came to helping someone in need. Early in her battle, she decided to donate her body to cancer research in hopes to shed a light on how to better treat the awful, aggressive and rare disease that took her. Because of this gracious and caring decision, there will be no funeral services, but a memorial service is being planned for the coming weeks.
On behalf of Susan, her family would like to thank Dr. Robert Maki of Sloan-Kettering Memorial Cancer Center in NYC and Dr. David August of The Cancer Institute of N.J. for their hard work to help her combat her illness through the years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale, 8 Main Street, Farmingdale NJ on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 1:00 PM. For those who desire, memorial contributions in memory of Susan may be made the Sarcoma Alliance, 775 E. Blithedale #334, Mill Valley, CA 94941 or online at www.sarcomaalliance.org and would be appreciated.
