Obituary of Thomas Abruscati

Thomas E. Abruscati, 69, of Jackson passed away surrounded by his family, at home on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Thomas was born in Brooklyn, raised on Long Island, spent his formative summers in Rocky Point, and had lived in Parsippany, Hackettstown, Toms River, and Howell until moving to Jackson in 2002. He was a Senior Systems Analyst for Continental Insurance, Cranbury for eighteen years, retiring in 2000. Prior to that, Thomas worked for Twin Counties Grocers, Edison as a Systems Analyst. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Freehold Twp. and was a Past Master of the Harmony Lodge #18, F.A. Masons, Toms River. Thomas was predeceased by his brother, Charles Abruscati and his former wife of 30 years, Josphine Abruscati. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Abruscati; a son, John Thomas Abruscati and his wife, Tami of Arnoldsville, GA; a daughter, Barbra-Jo Swingle and her husband, David of Cinnaminson, a stepson, Shawn Gormann and his wife, Monica of Jackson; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Gormann and her companion, Joshua Jackson of Alaska; six grandchildren, Sophia, Philip, Marisa, Ashley, Victoria, and Eric; two brothers, Joseph Abruscati of Florida and John Abruscati of River Head, NY; a sister, Rose Gorzycsky of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the First Assembly of God Church, 272 Jackson Mills Road, Freehold Twp on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 10:00 AM.
