Obituary of Thomas Murphy
Thomas J. Murphy, 79 of Farmingdale passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Mr. Murphy was born in the Bronx, NY and had lived in Brentwood, NY, Rahway, Dunellen and Haddon Heights before settling to Farmingdale in 1975. He was an underwriter for Kemper Insurance in the World Trade Center, New York City for over 35 years, retiring in 1988. Thomas also often volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
He was predeceased by his wife, Edna, his brother William Murphy and his sister Katherine Ruddy. Thomas is survived by three sons: T. Scott Murphy and his wife, Peggy of Haddonfield; Matt Murphy of Farmingdale; and Steven Murphy and his wife, Mary of Bellmawr; two daughters: Susan and her husband, John Vogt of Gloucester Twp.; and Karen and her husband, Ken Sanfarraro of Bellmawr; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers: Vincent Murphy of Toms River; and Pat Murphy of Edison; and one sister, Agnes Neafsey of Avon.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Friday, January 29, 2010 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM until his 11:00 AM funeral mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
