Obituary of Franklyn Ellis
Franklyn R. "Lyn" Ellis, 87, of Farmingdale passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Brandywine Senior Living Reflections at Colts Neck. Lyn was born in Long Branch and was a lifelong Farmingdale resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. Lyn retired as an auto body mechanic from Rassas Pontiac, Red Bank in 1988. Prior to that, he worked for Matthews Chevrolet, Farmingdale. Lyn was a member and past president of the Monmouth Mineral & Gem Club. He was a member of Leidy Microscopical Society and the Franklyn Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society. Lyn was also a life member of the Franklin Mineral Museum, the Sterling Hill Mining Museum, The Nature Conservancy, and The Audubon Society.
Lyn is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Lavina Ostrander Ellis; a son, Steven Ellis and his wife, Sue of Farmingdale; a daughter, Barbara Ellis and her husband, Martin Toates of NYC & Fire Island; two grandchildren, Melanie Williamson and her husband, Sten and Steven J. Ellis; two great-grandchildren, Coleman and Landon; a sister, Kathryn Amalfa and her husband, Nick of Lakewood; two nieces and a nephew.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service at the funeral home on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
