Obituary of Anthony Monte

Anthony R. Monte, Sr., 84, of Jackson passed away on Sunday, February 28th, at Centra State Medical Center, Freehold Twp. Mr. Monte was born in Newark, NJ, and had lived in Manalapan before moving to Jackson six years ago. Mr. Monte was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during World War II in the European and Asiatic-Pacific Theaters where he received six stars. He worked in maintenance at Rossmoor, Monroe Twp., for over 20 years retiring in 2002. Mr. Monte then worked in the produce department of Wegmans, Manalapan, since 2002. He was predeceased by his wife, Kathryn, in 2009. He is survived by two sons, Michael of Marlow, NH, and Anthony, Jr., of Jackson, NJ; 7 Grandchildren; 1 Brother, Salvatore Monte of Hillsboro, NJ, and a sister, Grace Curto of Berkeley Twp., NJ. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Friday, March 5th, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service at 10:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan Township.
