Obituary of Vincent De Vita

Vincent S. De Vita, 87, of The Villages, Howell Township passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010 St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Mr. De Vita was born in the East New York Section of Brooklyn and had lived the Canarsie section of Brooklyn before moving to The Villages, Howell in 1986. He was a principle partner at Vincent S. De Vita Law Firm, Brooklyn. Mr. De Vita was a parishioner at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold, he was also a member of the Men's Club at the Villages where he was on the board of Trustees for over 20 years. Mr. De Vita was a decorated United States Army Veteran, who served during World War II. He was also the former president of the AARP local chapter. Mr. De Vita was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Josephine F. De Vita in November 1997. He is survived by two sons: John Vincent De Vita and his wife, Barbara of Clifton, and Francis Paul De Vita and his wife, Vicki of Tinton Falls; three grandchildren: Michael Vincent De Vita, Megan and her husband, Eric Helmecke, and Vincent Edward De Vita; and one great granddaughter: Abigail Helmecke. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 9:00 AM for his rite of committal followed by his 10:00 AM funeral mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Entombment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery Mausoleum.
