Obituary of John E. Murphy
John E. Murphy, Sr., 79, of Howell passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at home. Mr. Murphy was born in Howell and was a life long resident. He retired as a foreman for the Howell Public Works Road Department. John was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and had the opportunity to work for Kenny Schrader. John loved his Vic's tomato pie.
He was predeceased by his father, Arthur L. Murphy, Sr., and his brothers, Arthur L. Murphy, Jr., and Ralph Murphy. John is survived by his son, John Murphy, Jr. and his wife, Lesa of Weatherford, TX; his daughter, Vicky Murphy of Orlando, FL; his mother, Elsie Murphy of Howell; his best friend and long time companion, Angie Barnhart of Howell; five grandchildren, Forrest, Sarah, Heather, Hannah and Scott; his brothers, W. Larry Murphy of McKinleyville, CA and Gerald Murphy of Farmingdale; his sister, Phyllis Trumbo of Emmaus, PA; and his step-children, Scott Barnhart and his wife, Jodi of Hanncock, NY and Theresa and her husband, Ray Killion of Jackson.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, Tinton Falls.
