Obituary of William Goss
William J. Goss, 86, of Freehold passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home, Menlo Park. Mr. Goss was born in Yonkers, NY and was raised in Manhattan and lived in Ridgewood, Bloomfield, Rockaway, Belle Mead and Spring Hill, FL before settling to Freehold in 2004. He was a U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Goss was a Purple Heart recipient and fought in the battle for Iwo Jima. He retired as the Vice President of Internal and External Security for the Home Insurance Company, NYC, NY. William was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale. He was the former CEO and volunteer of the Day Star Hope Center and a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, both of Spring Hill, FL.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Goss. William is survived by his wife, Eleanor Goss of Freehold; three sons: Dr. William Goss and his wife, Lori of San Antonio, TX; Richard Goss and his wife, Maria of Branchburg, NJ; and John Goss, RN of Philadelphia, PA; one daughter: Virginia Goss of Freehold; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one brother: Thomas Goss of Houston, TX.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass at 9:00 AM on Friday, July 9, 2010 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Chapel, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale. Inurnment will follow in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
