Obituary of Randy Corder

Randy W. Corder, 64, of Freehold Township passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Mr. Corder was born in and had lived in Batesburg, SC until moving to Freehold 42 years ago. He worked for the Manalapan-Englishtown Board of Education as a music teacher at Clark Mills School, Manalapan for over 39 years, retiring in 2007. Mr. Corder graduated with his B.M.E from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, Class of 1968. He was the church organist and choir director for over 25 years at the First Baptist Church of Freehold. Mr. Corder started his career playing the organ at the Presbyterian Church of Batesburg at the age of 12. He was a member of N.E.A, N.J.E.A, and the Music Educators National Conference. Mr. Corder is survived by his wife, Linda R. Newtret Corder of Freehold; one daughter, Jennifer L. and her husband, Justin S. Garr of Jackson; two grandsons, James and Matthew Garr of Jackson; one brother, R. Glen Corder of Orlando, FL; and three sisters, Dianne Corder and Barbara C. Nelson both of Greenwood, SC and Robin C. Stewart of Leesville, SC. There will be a receiving of friends at First Baptist Church of Freehold, 81 West Main Street, Freehold on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 10:00 AM until his 10:30 AM funeral service at the church with the Rev. William Frederickson, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Randy to the Memorial Fund at the First Baptist Church of Freehold, 81 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 or to the Westminster Conservatory, 101 Walnut Avenue, Princeton, NJ 08540.
