Obituary of Edward Slater
Edward V. Slater, 61, of Farmingdale, NJ, died Monday, July 19th, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born in Utica, NY, and had lived in Wall, NJ, moving to Farmingdale 15 years ago.
Until his retirement, Ed was a Manager at Harry's Army and Navy, in Robbinsville, NJ. He was a Marine Corps. Veteran of the Vietnam War serving two continuous tours of duty. He was a member of the Wounded Warriors and the American Legion Post #54, Freehold. Ed was a hunting enthusiast and loved the outdoors.
He was predeceased by a brother, Sgt. Stephen Slater, who was killed while serving in Granada.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Slater, of Farmingdale, NJ; two sons, Eric, of Tennessee and Stephen, of Farmingdale; one daughter, Felicia Bennett of Toms River; one grandson, Nicholas; his parents,
Edward V., Sr. and Marilyn Slater, of Arizona; a brother, Glenn Slater, of Massachusetts and 2 cousins, Marilyn Denny and Susan Browne, both of Arizona.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, July 24th, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM with his service of remembrance at 4:30 PM at the funeral home.
