Obituary of Mildred Conrow
Mildred Farry Conrow, 97, of Farmingdale, passed away on Tuesday, July 20th, at Tower Lodge Care Center, Wall, NJ. She was a graduate of Manasquan High School and Rider College, Trenton, Class of 1931. She worked as an accounting technician at Fort Monmouth for over 20 years, retiring in 1981. She served as a substitute teacher in the Howell Township School District for several years after working at the U.S. Farm Bureau in Freehold. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, Farmingdale. She was an active member of the Monmouth County Republican Party and was elected as a Howell Township Republican Committeewoman. Mrs. Conrow was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Molly Pitcher Chapter, No. 198, Freehold; an 80-year member of Farmingdale Grange, No. 157, Farmingdale; and a member of Monmouth County Pomona, the New Jersey State Grange and the National Grange. As a dedicated patriot, she served as a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Mrs. Conrow was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Holmes Conrow, II, in 1981; her sister, Bernice Farry, in 1994 and brother, Chester O. Farry, in 1983.
Surviving her are two daughters, Joan C. Smith of Washington D.C. and Linda C. Griffin of Rotonda West, Florida. She was a grandmother of four, LTC Drew P. Smith of Bristow, VA; Diana Smith Keil of Jackson, NJ; Tara Griffin Plakyda of Lee's Summit, MO and John T. Griffin, Esq. of Sarasota, FL. Mrs. Conrow was a great-grandmother to six: Abigale and Tyler Smith; Jules and Lexie Keil; and Josie Lynn and Donovan Plakyda.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, July 27th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral service on Wednesday, July 28th, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale, NJ.
