Obituary of George Smith

George J. Smith, 82, of Freehold Township, passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Mr. Smith was born, raised and had lived in the Stapleton section of Staten Island, N.Y., moving to Freehold Twp. in 1969. He was a vice president/treasurer of Morgan Guarantee Trust, New York City for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. George was a parishioner at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Marlboro, where he assisted with their Bingo games for many years. He was a member of the Bella Vista Country Club, Marlboro, where he could be seen playing golf on Wednesdays and Fridays. George was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was known for his attention to detail. George will be forever loved by his family. He was predeceased by two brothers, Roy Smith and Raymond Smith; and a sister, Babe Moccia. George is survived by a sister-in-law, Dolores Smith; five nieces, Carol Moccia, Dee Munoz and her husband, Bob, Debbie Eisenkerch and her husband, Bill, Dorothy Kinneman and her husband, Jeff, and Donna Huskey and her husband, Bill; three grandnephews; six grandnieces and two great-grandnephews. Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8 at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the Rite of Committal at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9 at the funeral home. followed by his 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, 100 N. Main St. (Route 79), Marlboro. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel's Mausoleum, Route 520, Marlboro.
