Obituary of John Ryan

John F. Ryan, Sr., 86, of Howell, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Mr. Ryan was born in Goshen, NY and had moved to Howell in 1950. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the European Theatre in France, England and Austria with the Third Armored Division. Mr. Ryan was one of the organizers of the Howell First Aid Squad and a life-member and former chief of the Southard Fire Department Number 1, Howell. He was also a former Scoutmaster with Troop 156 at the Southard Fire House. Mr. Ryan was predeceased by his wife, Josephine, in 2000. He is survived by his son, John, F. Ryan, Jr. and his wife, Evelyn, of Neptune, 2 Granddaughters and 3 Great Grandsons. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township, on Friday, October 22, 2010, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Kent & Church Roads, Howell, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's memory may be made to the Southard Fire Dept. Number 1, P. O.
