Obituary of Robert Jeffery

Robert "Jeff" J. Jeffery, Sr., 76, of Lake Ariel, PA formerly of Lincroft died on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. Jeff was born in Red Bank, raised in Holmdel then lived in Massachusetts before returning to New Jersey. He settled in Lincroft to raise his family, then in retirement moved to Lake Ariel, PA. Jeff was a 1952 graduate of Red Bank High School where he ran track and played football. He attended Lafayette College on an athletic scholarship where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, graduating in 1956. Jeff was an F & A Mason. He was the principle of Holmes & McDowell, Inc., Holmdel for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. Jeff was a former volunteer for the Lincroft Fire Department and a former member of the Rotary Club, Middletown. He volunteered as a coach for both the River Plaza Youth Club Pop Warner and the Lincroft Little League. Jeff was a founding Board member of the Cobbs Lake Preserve and had served as President and Treasurer. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret in 2001. Jeff is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law: Robert J. and Mary Ellen Jeffery, Jr. of Freehold Township and Peter M. and Allyson Jeffery of Millstone Township; four grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher, Douglas, and Lauren; a brother, James Jeffery of Upper Freehold Township; and loving companion, Barbara Marr of Lake Ariel, PA. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, NJ on Friday, December 17, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM with his funeral service at 7:00 PM. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery, Middletown.
