Obituary of William Whalen
William "Bill" M. Whalen, 81, of Farmingdale passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at home. Bill was born in Port-Au-Peck, Ocean Twp., was raised in Howell on the family farm and settled in Farmingdale. He was a foreman for the State of NJ, Dept. of Transportation, in Neptune for 43 years retiring in 1991, but remained a farmer his whole life. Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during Korea.
He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine, in 1994 and a brother, John. Bill is survived by two daughters, Angela Perry and her husband, Joseph, of Truxton, NY and Gina Bettencourt, and her husband, Ron, of Toms River; 6 grandchildren, Josephine Perry, Shaughnessy Perry, Brittany Perry and her husband, Daniel, Rayne Perry, Lucianna Bettencourt and Vincent Bettencourt and a sister, Ruth Bennett of Freehold Twp.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Twp. on Friday, December 17th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 18th, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
