Obituary of Mary Pilla
Mary Pilla, 99, of Freehold, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011, at Geraldine L. Thompson Care Center, Wall. Mrs. Pilla was born in Newark, raised in Italy, returned to the U.S. in 1928 settling in Newark. She moved to Toms River in 1980 and then to Freehold. She was a seamstress for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Local 135, Newark, for over 30 years, retiring in 1980.
Mrs. Pilla was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 1959, 3 brothers and a sister. She is survived by a son, Louis Pilla and his wife, Diane, of Freehold Township; 4 grandsons, Christopher Pilla and his wife, Judi, of Howell, Ronald Pilla and his wife, Jan, of Wall, Patrick and his wife, ToniAnn, of Wall and Joseph Pilla and his wife, Elizabeth, of Howell; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Settimio Ferrara of South Orange and a sister, Rosina Ferrara of Italy.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, February 3, 2011, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Friends and relatives may gather at 9:00 AM on Friday, February 4, 2011, at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold.
