Obituary of Friedrich Brandl

Friedrich Alex Brandl, 71, of Farmingdale, went from his Earthly Home to his Heavenly Home on Friday, February 18, 2011, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Alex was born in Austria and came to the U.S. in 1952, settling in the Freewood Acres Section of Howell. He moved to Farmingdale in 1954. Alex was an extractor operator for Nestle, Freehold, for over 32 years, retiring in 2002. Prior to that, he worked at the Howell Preventorium for 15 years. Alex was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale. He volunteered at the Joshua House and is an Exempt and Life Member of the Farmingdale Fire Department. Alex was an avid traveler, who enjoyed his trips to Pennsylvania, to visit his Amish friends, his journey to South Dakota, and his pilgrimage to his homeland, Austria. He loved to play board games with his family and cards with the Poker Boyz. Alex was predeceased by his brothers, Christian and Tommy and his sister, Roberta Fisher. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virgie Brandl, of Farmingdale; four sons, Erich Brandl and his wife, Rose Ann, of Farmingdale, Brian Brandl and his wife, Kelli of Farmingdale, Chris Brandl and his wife, Reyna, of Belmar, and Jay Brandl of Freehold; one daughter, Rebecca Martin and her husband, Tom, of Howell; eight grandchildren, Dustin, Christina, Tony, Alex, Miles, George, Adrienne and Chloe; and six brothers, Hans, George, Joey, Alex, Michael, and Junior; and four sisters, Hilda, Tonie, Mila, and Mary. Alex leaves his faithful, furry friend, Sasha, and a yard full of fine-feathered friends. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, February 25, 2011, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life and Witness to the Resurrection of Alex at the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale, 8 Main Street, Farmingdale, on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 11:00 AM.
