Obituary of Steven Daroci
Steven J. Daroci, 80, of Allentown, NJ, formerly of Old Bridge passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Born in Perth Amboy, Steve lived in Matawan and Old Bridge prior to moving to Allentown in 2005.
Steve was a 1950 graduate of Woodbridge High School. He served in the Army National Guard of NJ in Westfield and was also a Special Police Officer with the Boro of Matawan. He was employed with Hess Oil Company in Port Reading and Chevron USA in Perth Amboy and was a member of the Teamsters Union 469 before retiring in 1986. Steve also served as a baseball coach with the Old Bridge Little League and as a Pop Warner football coach with the Old Bridge Rams. Upon retirement, Steve owned and operated S & D Farm and Lawn Equipment - which started as a hobby, and turned into a love and passion. He was a member of the Old Tennent Presbyterian Church.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, caring father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather.
Steve was predeceased by his parents, Joseph & Elizabeth Daroci and his sister, Bernice Orosz. He will be missed dearly by his surviving family which includes his childhood sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Doris (nee Taylor), his sons, Steven G. Daroci and his wife, Karen, of Jackson, Robert G. Daroci and his wife, Linda, of Lincroft; a daughter, Debra A. Smigelsky and her husband, John, of Old Bridge and his grandchildren, Dawn, Devon, Derek, Dana, Jodi, John, Justin, Steven, Taylor & Caroline and his adored great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Tyler, John, Steven & Quinn.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, April 8th, at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Twp. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 9th, before departing for his 11:00 AM funeral service at the Old Tennent Presbyterian Church, 454 Tennent Road, Manalapan Twp. with interment to follow at Old Tennent Cemetery.
