Obituary of Cecil Gravatt
Cecil B. Gravatt, Jr. 72, of Howell Township, died on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Junior was a lifelong resident of Howell Township. He was employed by the Howell Township Road Department as the Head Mechanic until his retirement in 1999 and was a member of the TWU Local 225. Prior to that, Junior worked at Farry & Gravatt Garage, Farmingdale. He served in the National Guard for eight years.
Junior is survived by his wife, MaryAnn Gravatt; two daughters, Karen Lewis and her husband, Robert, of Farmingdale and Charlene North and her husband, Ronald, of North Carolina; one grandson, Craig Lewis and his wife, Patricia, of Howell; three brothers, George Gravatt and his wife, Marlene, of Adelphia, John Gravatt and his wife, Betty Ann, of Howell, and Earl Gravatt and his wife, Judy, of Burnsville, Minnesota; two sisters, Barbara Spector and her husband, David, of Howell and Lillian Leary and her husband, Glenn, of Bluefield, West Virginia; many nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Lillian Winthers of Wall Township; and his brother-in-law, Robert Potter and his companion, Sharon Hart, of Sea Girt.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton Adelphia Road, (Route 524) Freehold Township on Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service on Monday, April 11, 2011 at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Detamore officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
