Obituary of Helen Smith
Helen M. Smith, 87, of Freehold passed away surrounded by her family at home. Helen was born in Newark and had lived in Nutley, Bellville, Lincroft, and Shrewsbury before settling to Surrey Downs, Freehold in 1987. She worked for the Holmdel Board of Education until her retirement, prior to that she worked in the meat department for A&P, Little Silver. Helen was a avid bridge player and was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald and a son, Bruce. Helen is survived by four sons: Dr. Gary Smith and his wife, Elizabeth of Buffalo, NY, Alan Smith and his wife, Candice of Brookfield, CT, Kenneth Smith and his wife, Susan of Brick, and Brian Smith and his wife, Kim of Brick; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Betty of Clifton.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friend are invited to the Rite of Committal at the funeral home on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 8:00 AM followed by her 9:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Chapel, North Main Street, Farmingdale. Interment will be at the Brig. Gen. W. C. Doyle NJ Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
