Obituary of Henry Ackermann
Henry "Harry" J. Ackermann, Sr., 90, of Freehold, NJ, died peacefully on May 18th, on the 65th anniversary of his marriage to his beloved wife, Margaret (nee Bauernschub) who died in 2004. Born in Baltimore, MD, to the late Henry A. and Isabelle (Dicke) Ackermann, he was the youngest of nine children and was predeceased by all of his siblings. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, after which he had a distinguished professional career as a chemist and computer scientist. However, the true loves of his life were his family and his faith. He was the devoted father of Henry, Jr (Valerie), Sister. Marialice, ASCJ, Bruce (Judy), Philip (Susan), and Mark (June). He adored his 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
As a committed Roman Catholic, Harry was a daily communicant at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Freehold and participated in numerous ministries in the various parishes that he was a member of throughout his life. He dedicated his life to the Blessed Mother and to the protection of the unborn. He was an active life member of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus for over 70 years. He was a Past Grand Knight of Hamilton Council 6213 and former Faithful Navigator of the Bishop Griffin Assembly 655.
Visitation will be held on Sunday ,May 22nd from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold, NJ. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine RC Church, Freehold, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Freehold.
