Obituary of Irene Book

Irene G. Book, 78, of Lakewood passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Irene was born in Jersey City and was raised in Newark before moving to Howell in 1958 and then settling to Lakewood in 2003. She was the closing coordinator for Jose Elkes, Freehold for over twenty-five years retiring in 1996. She was an avid card player and loved horses. Irene was predeceased by two brothers, Frank & Felix, and four sisters, Regina, Sophie, Bertha & Marion. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Carl F. Book, Sr.; three sons, Carl F. Book, Jr. and his wife, Joan of Jackson, Jon Book and his significant other, Valeria Tramutola of Jackson, & Kenneth Book and his wife, Kathleen of Jackson; a daughter, Kathleen J. Book and her partner, Karen Kowalski of South Plainfield; nine grandchildren, Carl F. Book, III, Travis C. Book, Tyler E. Book, Courtney Erin Book, Cpl. Jon David Book, USMC, Kaylee M. Book, Rylee A. Book, Brennan M. Book, & Al Kowalski; two great grandchildren, Erin & Jamie Kowalski; and a sister, Wanda Frederick of Morristown. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Rite of Committal at 9:00 AM on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the funeral home followed by her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 43 Madison Ave., Lakewood. Interment to follow in St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Cemetery.
