Obituary of Desmond O'Mara

Desmond F. O'Mara, 82, of Freehold Township passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at CentraState Medical Center. Desmond was born in Brooklyn, NY and had lived in Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn until moving to Freehold Township, NJ in 1972. He was the owner of Graphic Securities until his retirement. Desmond was a World War II veteran and a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Sheridan Counsel, Brooklyn and a member of the N.A.P.L.. Desmond was predeceased by a brother, Gerry O'Mara. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of sixty years, Lucille; three sons, Michael O'Mara of Milford, CT, John O'Mara of Newport News, VA, and David O'Mara and his wife, Kathleen of Old Bridge; six daughters, Jeanne Kominsky of Freehold, Theresa McGhee and her husband, George of Jackson, Kerry Weldon and her husband, Jimi of Freehold, Kathy Lagno and her husband, Fran of Salt Point, NY, Lory Rasiewicz and her husband, Ed of Lakewood, and Erin Brown of Freehold; seventeen grandchildren, Jeffrey, Christopher, Jordan, Bridget, Kaitlin, Marissa, Paul, Emma, Edward, Carly, Christina, Sean, Billy, Peter, Casey, Lindsay, and Shanna; and a sister, Midge Murphy of Ontario, Canada. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Rite of Committal at the funeral home on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 9:00 AM followed by his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle NJ Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Desmond may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
