Obituary of Barbara Rygiel

Barbara D. Rygiel, 76, of Manalapan passed away peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2011 at home. Barbara was born in Newark and lived in Irvington, Union and East Orange before settling in Clark in 1962 with her husband Leon and 3 children. Following her husband's death in 2005, Barbara moved to The Chelsea at Manalapan, where she lived the last 6 years of her life. Barbara worked as a teller at the Summit Savings Bank in Clark, then as a cosmetic sales associate with Macy's in Menlo Park for 15 years, retiring in 1994. Barbara was a former parishioner of St. Agnes Church, Clark and Sacred Heart Church, Irvington, where she was a member of the Rosary Society, as well as a lifelong member of the Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary Post 452. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon V. Rygiel in 2005; daughter, Kathleen A. Gulledge in 2007, and a grandson, Justin R. Gulledge in 2009. Barbara is survived by a daughter, Cindy Rygiel of Sayreville; a son, Lee Rygiel of Freehold Twp.; a sister, Marilyn Poland; a son-in-law, Jerry Gulledge; and two grandsons, Anthony Basile and Peter Basile of South Carolina. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, August 12, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Rite of Committal on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 9:00 AM followed by a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Twp. Internment to take place at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle NJ Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to United Cerebral Palsy of South Carolina, 3681 Leaphart Road, Suite A, West Columbia, SC 29169 in the memory her grandson, Justin R.
