Obituary of Michael Simoes

Michael J. Simoes, 36 of Lakewood passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at his home. Michael was born in Linden and grew up in Toms River. He later lived in Howell and Lakehurst until recently moving to Lakewood. Michael was a fabricator welder for Harold R. Henrich, Lakewood for over ten years. He was a member of Cub Scout Troop 32, Linden. Michael was a graduate of Toms River East High School, and attended Ocean County College. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. Michael was a member of the Hercules Rod and Gun Club and a true steward of the land. He was an experienced down river kayaker who participated in many competitive local and national races. Michael loved to photograph his surroundings and had a keen eye, which resulted in beautiful and breathtaking pictures. He is survived by his parents, Manuel and Elizabeth Kelly Simoes of Howell; a sister, Nicole Louis and her husband, Olivier of Westfield; a brother, Christopher Simoes and his wife, Sara of East Windsor; his maternal grandmother, Anorahal Kelly of Florida; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Michael will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with his funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM.
