Obituary of Karen Sommers
Karen Sommers, 71, entered her eternal home with the Lord on Saturday, September 3, 2011, after a long struggle with Pick's Disease. She was brought up in Cranford, NJ and graduated from Newark State Teacher's College. She married Arthur Sommers, also of Cranford, NJ, and they lived in the Allenwood section of Wall Township for approximately 50 years.
Karen enjoyed tennis, golf, bridge, and church activities. She worked with her husband in several local businesses. Art and Karen attend Crosspoint Baptist Church in Farmingdale.
In addition to her husband Art, Karen is survived by daughters Diane Baker (Harrisburg, PA), Donna Thompson and her husband Peter (Wall Township) and son Joe Sommers (Wall Township) and granddaughters Kristen and Trisha Baker. She is also survived by her brother Bill Sorensen and his wife Mary of Warren, NJ and her brother in law Jim Sommers and his wife Dede of Bricktown, NJ.
Karen's internment was private. Her memorial service will be held at Crosspoint Baptist Church, 462 Squankum-Yellowbrook Road, Howell NJ, on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at 1 PM. with Pastor Dan Brindley officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Karen's memory to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, Radnor Station Building 2, Suite 320, 290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087.
