Obituary of Steven H. Gillule
Steven H. Gillule, 55, of Smithboro, NY passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 after a number of years of declining health at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was born in Binghamton, NY, raised in Manalapan and Freehold Township, and spent some time living in Somerset before settling in Smithboro in 2003. Steven was a graduate of Freehold Township High School Class of 1980, and Trenton State College Class of 1984, and later obtained his Master’s Degree from Liberty University. He was a teacher at Piscataway High School and a guidance counselor at Hillsborough High School prior to moving to NY. Steven coached high school sports including football, wrestling, track and swimming at Piscataway and Hillsborough High Schools. A zealous Giants fan, he enjoyed spending time in Wildwood Crest and with his children.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leah Gillule in 2000 and Joel Gillule in 2015. Steven is survived by his wife, Patti Gillule of Smithboro, NY; five children, Kathryn Chao Yan, David Gillule of Tokyo, Justin Gillule, Anna Gillule and Leah Gillule; sisters, Debra Gillies of Bremerton, Washington State and Dana Ackalitis and her husband, Vincent of Mesa, AZ, his brother, Bill Gillule and his wife, Elaina of Manalapan; and nieces and nephews, Adam, Lauren, Liam, Betsy, Ben, Karen, Patrick, Patti, Kathleen and Tim.
A Gathering of Friends will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon with his funeral service at noon.
