Obituary of Joan Convery
Joan Convery, 79, of Jackson passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Jersey City to Rocco and Sarah DiAiso, Joan lived in Freehold and Toms River before taking up residence in Jackson in 1972. She was the Director of Admitting at Community Medical Center in Toms River prior to her retirement in 2000, and a member of both the National and New Jersey Association of Healthcare Management, as well as having served as a former President of the New Jersey Association. Joan was a Lt. Col. In the Civil Air Patrol and a founding member of Silverton First Aid Squad. Her hobbies included camping and traveling throughout the US. A parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, her most fulfilling role in life was as Nanny and Nanny-Nan to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Roseann DiAiso, Mary Jean Iorio, and Madeline DeMicco; and brother, Michael DiAiso. Joan is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Convery of Jackson; five children, Joni Prioli of Jackson, Joseph P. Convery and his wife, Dale of Herndon, VA, Kathleen Frasier and her husband, Jerry of Jackson, John F. Convery and his wife, Patricia of Jackson; and James Sullivan Convery and his wife, Bridget of Freehold; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 9:00 AM for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
