Obituary of Mark E. McLaughlin
Mark E. McLaughlin, 51, of Freehold Township passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017. He was born in Waterbury, CT and raised in Watertown, CT. Mark attended the Canterbury School in New Milford, CT and graduated from the University of Connecticut. He then moved to New York City where he met his wife, Kathy. They moved to Freehold in 1999 to raise their family. Mark was the Vice President of Human Resources for the Swatch Group in Weehawken and Miami, FL. Prior to that, he worked for Wear Me Apparel and Calvin Klein both in New York City. A true Renaissance Man, Mark had earned his pilot’s license, was an expert marksman, dabbled in oil painting, took pleasure in the culinary arts, was a man of the sea with his ability to sail, believed that exercise should include a few pushups, embraced his mother earth in his expertise of landscaping, and always had an eye for fashion. He had an excitement for cars and motorcycles. Being with family is where Mark could be found, always enjoying a good flick and some Ben and Jerry’s. He was a Makers Mark enthusiast with a bald head and a mischievous smile. Through laughter, he took the time to talk to everyone to create personal relationships.
Mark was predeceased by his parents, William and Patricia McLaughlin; brother, William “Chip” McLaughlin; father-in-law, John Wall; and brothers-in-law, John Wall and William Wall. He is survived by his wife, Kathy McLaughlin of Freehold; children, Mark David McLaughlin of New York City, Maris Patricia McLaughlin of Freehold, and Martha Elise McLaughlin of Freehold; brothers, Michael McLaughlin and his wife, Kristin of Old Saybrook, CT, and Brian McLaughlin and his wife, Amy of Higganum, CT; sister, Allison McCarthy and her husband, Mark of Westbrook, CT; brother, Gary Ingham of CT; mother-in-law, Jane Wall of Staten Island, NY; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth McGuinness of Wilton, CT and Dawn Wall of Spring Lake; step mother, Michelle McLaughlin and her husband, Joe of Naples, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special cousin, Cindy Raimo of Windsor, CT; and his miniature dachshund, Mia.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Interment will be on Monday, October 23, 2017 in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 669 Platt Road, Watertown, CT.
