Obituary of Charles Henry Okerson
Charles Henry Okerson, III, 92, of Howell passed away peacefully in the home that he was born and raised in on Okerson Road on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Charles worked as a farmer on the Okerson farm, as well as a parts manager for CH Roberson, Inc before retiring as the maintenance supervisor for Delicious Orchards in 2007. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. Charles was an all-around handyman who could fix anything, from furniture to cars, and enjoyed working on special projects for his family. He loved to tend to his garden, paint, and work on his puzzles. Charles’ true passion was stock car racing and he especially loved to cheer on his grandson, Chas, in his own races.
Charles was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Okerson; and his daughter, Ginny King. His is survived by his son, Charles E. Okerson and his wife, Kathy of Farmingdale; daughter, Laurie Brinkman and her husband, Paul of Jackson; and son-in-law, Michael King of Brick; grandchildren, Chas Okerson and his wife, Jennifer, Jared Okerson and his wife, Alysan, Kyle Okerson and his wife, Christina, Nicole Robbins and her husband, Tim, Brittany Brinkman, and Rachel Brinkman; great grandchildren, L.J., Catie, Amber, Kyle, Kellen, Carolina, Isabella, and Trevor.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, 169 W Main Street, Freehold Township.
