Obituary of Shirley Wilson

Shirley London Wilson, 84, of Freehold Township, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2012. She was born and raised in New York City before moving to Freehold Township in 2010. Shirley was a registered nurse at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn before retiring at the age of 70. She was an opera singer, having performed at the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall. Shirley is survived by three daughters, Marie Wilson Selecky and her husband, Richard, Patricia Wilson Covington and her husband, Charles, and Yolanda Douglas and her husband, Bishop H. Curtis Douglas; a son, Roy Reno Wilson and his wife, Coco; a daughter-in-law, Ophelia Wilson; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Theresa Thibou and Theresa Johnson; her best friend, Althea Harper; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM funeral service on Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Abundant Life Church of God, 632 Colts Neck Road (Route 537), Freehold Township.
