Obituary of Geraldine F. George
Geraldine F. “Gerry” George, 86, of Howell passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She had lived in Newport, NY and Farmingdale, NJ before moving to Howell in 1970. She was a homemaker and worked at the Village in Allaire State Park demonstrating and reenacting weaving for over 10 years, retiring in 1993. Gerry loved to knit and crochet and had a passion for lace work. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Adelphia Fire Department and was a former member of the Rosary Altar Society of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. An active member at the Howell Senior Center, Gerry was instrumental in the foundation of the Tangled Threads.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph George, 1981 and daughter, Sandra Schirick, 2011. Gerry is survived by her daughter, Loreley Fortin and her husband, Michael of Freehold Township; son, Joseph L. George, Jr. and his wife, Suzie of Farmingdale; grandchildren, Nicole George and her fiancé, Kevin, Joseph L. George, III, Sheryl Sollenberger and her husband, Neil, Patrick Fortin and his wife, Yvette, Derek Fortin, and Danny Fortin; great grandchildren, Madalynn, Brixton, Sabrina and Lillian; son-in-law, Dave Schirick and his wife, Sue of Dorchester; and her sister, Lucille Clark of Queensbury, NY.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM with her 11:00 AM funeral service to follow at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Freehold Township.
