Obituary of Joseph Francis Scala

Joseph Francis Scala, 88, of Colts Neck passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton.  He was born and raised in Brooklyn and settled in Colts Neck in 2001.  Joseph owned and operated S & G Service Center in Brooklyn.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean war.  Joseph was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colts Neck.   He enjoyed fishing, cars, and loved to cook.  Joseph was a proud Poppa to his children and grandchildren, and most importantly a loving husband to his main love, Marie.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie Scala of Colts Neck; children, Carolanne Granese and her husband, Victor of Toms River, Maria Emrich and her husband, Jim of Cream Ridge, and Rachel Scala of Staten Island; and grandchildren Joseph, Kerri, Timmy, Dominick, and Alexandria.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 9:00 AM Funeral Mass on Monday, December 11, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, One Phalanx Road, Colts Neck, NJ 07722.  Memorial contributions in Joseph’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville NJ 07834.  For information, directions, or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
