Obituary of Lydia Leon
Lydia Leon, 90, of Howell passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Lydia was born in Manhattan and lived on the Lower East Side and Central Islip before settling here in 1991. Lydia was an adoring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a love for animals.
She was predeceased by her husband, Diogenes “Bibi” Leon in 1987. Lydia is survived by three daughters, Lydia Green and Tony Corti or Mamaroneck, NY, Gladys Leon of Alexandria, VA, and Elaine Giaquinto and her husband, Ron of Colts Neck, NJ; five grandchildren, Jennifer Powers and her husband, Jeff of Brooklyn, NY, Christopher Green of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Andrino “Dino” Flevotomos and his wife, Chrysa of Clifton, VA and Madeline and Gabrielle Giaquinto, both of New York City, NY; and one great granddaughter, Madison.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 1:00 PM graveside service on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton, NY 11933. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lydia’s name may be made to Hope for Animals, Post Office Box 303, Manalapan, NJ 07726.
