Obituary of Thomas Walter McCreary, Sr.
Thomas Walter McCreary, Sr., 89, of Jackson, NJ passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Sunrise Senior Living of Jackson. He was born and raised in Glenside, PA and resided in Willow Grove, PA before settling in Jackson, NJ in 2016. A US Army Veteran who served shortly after World War II, Tom was later a member of the American Legion continuing his devotion to servicemen and veterans.
After his service, Tom worked for Acme Markets for over 53 years retiring as a Produce Manager. He was a hardworking handyman whose hobbies included bowling and gardening. Known as a jokester, Tom had a great sense of humor and his greatest love was for his family. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ann McCreary in 1989, and his stepdaughter, Gloria Benney in 2007. Tom is survived by his wife of 21 years, Rose Brown McCreary of Jackson, NJ, two sons, Thomas W. McCreary, Jr., of Willow Grove, PA and James McCreary and his wife, Joan from Hatboro, PA, and stepdaughter, Debra Weber and her husband, Frank of Freehold Township, NJ, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, NJ on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:15 AM Funeral Mass on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township, NJ. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Township, PA.
