Obituary of Marie Rose Tozzi

Marie Rose Tozzi, 89, of Cary, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at PruittHealth, Raleigh, North Carolina.  She was born in Manhattan, and was raised in Little Italy on Elizabeth Street and had lived on Broome Street.  Marie moved to River Edge in 1957 to raise her family and settled in North Carolina in 2015. She was a parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church in River Edge and the Church of the Transfiguration in New York City.  Marie was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She loved to take trips to Atlantic City and watch the horses race at Monmouth Race Track.  Most importantly, Marie was a  devoted wife, loving mother, and an adoring Nana.

Marie was predeceased by her three brothers and three sisters.  She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Joseph Tozzi of Cary, North Carolina; children, Vincent Tozzi and his wife, Anne of Freehold Township, New Jersey, Dr. Joseph Tozzi and his wife, Kim of Sanford, North Carolina, Steven Tozzi and his wife, Kate of Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Gary Tozzi and his wife, Lisa of Jackson, New Jersey, and Susan Henderson and her husband, Chris of Brewster, New York; 13 grandchildren, Kristen Tozzi of Freehold Township, New Jersey,  Kimberley Tozzi of Brick, New Jersey, Francesca Tozzi of Sanford, North Carolina, Alessandra Tozzi of Sanford, North Carolina, Joseph Tozzi of Sanford, North Carolina, Jason Tozzi of San Diego, California, Erica Burrows and her husband, Richard of San Diego, California, Zachary Tozzi of New York City, New York, Nicholas Tozzi of Jackson, New Jersey, Stephanie Tozzi of Jackson, New Jersey, Ashley Henderson of Boston, Massachusetts, Sean Henderson of Brewster, New York, and Connor Henderson of Brewster, New York; 2 great grandchildren, Will and Leopold; and many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 10:30 AM for the procession to her 11:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C.
