Obituary of Edward F. Moore

Edward F. Moore, Sr., 72, of Howell passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 11, 2018.  He was born in Neptune and raised in Asbury Park.  Edward had lived in South Belmar before settling in Howell in 1977.  He worked as a wheel chair coach for Alert Ambulance for 18 years, retiring in 2017.  Prior to working for Alert Ambulance, Edward worked for Marine Safety in Farmingdale for 28 years.  He was a member of the Freewood Acres Fire Department for 40 years, South Belmar Fire Company and First Aid Squad, and the Howell Township Relief Association and Exempt Association.  The most important things in Edwards’s life were his 3 F’s; family, firefighting, and fishing. 

Edward was predeceased by his parents, James Moore in 2002 and Josephine Skillman Moore in 1981; and his brother, James Moore in 2017.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Moore of Howell; children, Betty Jo Moore-Kopec of Howell, Edward Moore, Jr. and his wife, Danielle of Jackson, and Julie Moore of Howell; four grandchildren; Kristina, Frank, Daniel, and Gabriella; great grandchildren, Katrina and Wayne; siblings, Laura, Doris, Kathy, Kevin, Bobby, Anne, Lance, and Billy; and his step mother, Lillian Moore. The family would like to thank Freewood Acres Fire Company, Alert Ambulance Service, and Bonnie Donahue for all their support and efforts.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 10:00 AM for the procession to his 11:00 AM graveside service in Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.  For information, directions, or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
