Obituary of Joan Ericksen
Joan Ericksen, 56, of Howell passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Brooklyn, raised and lived in Manalapan, and settled in the Freehold area in the 1990s. She worked in customer service for Norkus Enterprises Foodtown in Manalapan and Stop-n-Shop in Jackson. Joan loved spending time at Manasquan Beach, trips to Atlantic City, and playing bingo at St. Rose of Lima, Freehold.
She was predeceased by her parents, Don and Nina Ericksen; and grandson, Nathan. Joan is survived by her husband, Alan Banjany of Howell; four stepchildren, Alan Banjany and his wife, Kristin of Howell, Lauren Banjany of NYC; Tiffany Banjany of Staten Island, and Joseph Banjany of Brooklyn; two grandchildren, Cara and Kate; four siblings, Donna Boffoli and her husband, Bill of Jackson, Susan Decker and her husband, John of Howell, Donald Ericksen and his wife, Holly of Salem, and Barbara Tamburrino and her husband, Mike of Jackson; goddaughter, Nicole Murphy; nieces and nephews, Billy, Jamie, Danny, Stormi, Donni, Jessi, Gina and Michael; and her faithful canine companion, Jax.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM Memorial Service at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Inurnment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, 549 Route 520, Marlboro.
