Condolences
My condolences to the entire family.
I was very sorry to hear about the passing of Harvey.
He has certainly left a wonderful legacy, and will live on through all who he has influenced and touched.
As mayor and police liaison, I worked very well with Chief Morrell. We brought about several improvements for the department and the Howell community. My condolensces to family, friends, and professional associates.
I grew up in the same neighborhood your dad did, lived three doors away from your Mom & Dad's first house on Second st. I have some great memories of your Mom & Dad when I was in my younger pre-teen years. My friend & I used to talk to your Dad whenever we saw him,he was always such a nice, friendly man. And wheneve we knocked on their door, your Mom always had a handfull of candy for us kids.I'm 62 now and that was a long time ago,but I always smile to myself when I thought of them. Now I have only memories of them, that I will never forget. May He and your Mom Rest in Peace. I was Blessed to have them as a part of my young life..
Very sorry to hear of the passing of Chief Morrell.
He was a wonderful man.
More than 35 years ago, I was a young municipal engineer for Howell Township and Harvey was the Police Chief and a source for insight and sage advice in many situations, usually accompanied by a story or experience of his own. I value my having had the opportunity to have him involved with my career.
He will be missed.
Rest in peace, Chief Morrell.
To Sharon, Stephanie and family- am very sorry to hear about the passing of your father and grandfather. My condolences and prayers go with you at this time. He seemed like a very nice family man who helped out his community in every aspect. Take care and God Bless!
I was very sad to hear about the passing of Chief Morrell. He was a compassionate person, visionary leader, mentor, and most important a person who cared deeply about his family. He dedicated his life serving others and ensuring the residents of Howell Township were safe. Over the years he helped build a well-respected professional police organization to meet the needs of a growing community. I had the pleasure of working with Chief Morrell when Howell Township considered forming a Police Explorer Post as a way to get youth interested in career opportunities in law enforcement. The effort was worthwhile as the program was implemented with much success and has resulted in dozens of members being hired in various roles in law enforcement agencies around the state. I express my deepest sympathy to the Morrell family for your loss and thank you for sharing your Dad with all of us.

Jeff and family,
My sincere condolences to you and your family. It has been my pleasure to call the Chief my friend for over 40 years. I never had the pleasure of working for him. But I always felt that he was available to me if I needed assistance. He was always known as a true professional and truly respected by all who knew him both in the police service and his township. I, like many others, will truly miss him.

My deepest condolences and sympathies to the Morrell family on the passing of
Your father. Chief Harvey Morrell, was a very important man in my life and I will
Always remember when I was hired as a police officer in Matawan Borough PD
On 1/2/1969, and worked under Captain Harvey Morrell, the Patrol Division Commander.
In September, 1971, Chief of Police, Harvey Morrell, was sworn in as the first law
Enforcement officer in Howell Township. Chief Morrell, had the arduous task of recruiting
At least 40 police Officers by the end of 1973. Effective, 1/1/1974, the New Jersey State
Police were closing the Howell SP Barracks and Howell township PD, would be responsible for all policing in Howell. Needless to say, the monumental task was not
Going to happen and Chief Harvey Morrell met with the Colonel of the NJSP and
Convinced the Colonel to give us another year and was successful and the State
Police, remained in Howell until 1/1/75.
Chief Harvey Morrell, hired me and I was sworn in 1/2/1972, as the third police officer
On Howell Township PD.
Chief Harvey Morrell, recruited admirable police officers for the inception of the
Foundation of the PD . Subsequently, thru the recruiting process Chief Morrell, hired
Outstanding individuals who became extradinary police officers.
However, Chief Morrell, with incredible credentials was able to convince the governing
body, it was imperative to expedite the hiring process to ensure 1/1/1975, we would
Have adequate manpower to efficiently and effectively police the community.
The entire Morrell family your father passing will be sorely missed by your family and
All the friends that revered your father. I personally will always hold your mother and
Father close to my heart and your family. Your Mom on many occasions would advise
the Chief when I was working the evening shift to have me stop by for diner and
Jean, made the best chocolate chip cookies to bring back to headquarters.
In summary Chief Harvey Morrell, ultimately through his extradinary , diligent , dedication,
Work ethic, brilliant intelligence, integrity, Professionalization developed the finest
Municipal PD in Monmouth County. Rest In Peace my wonderful friend. 204 M Cohen
I'm very sorry for the loss of your grandfather. Prayers to you and your family.
Simple words can not express how I feel. I am so very sorry to read of the Chief’s passing and that of Jeanie. I had no idea. Rest easy Chief. You were a good, kind, decent, caring man and I’m the better for knowing you.
God bless
I read the "obituary" on the main page for Harvey Morrell. It is nice, gives his accreditations, his achievements. But for me, it doesn't "define" him. Not only him, but the Morrell Family. Harvey, "Mr. Morrell" as I knew him growing up, inspired me. He's a part of me, and always will be, and who I've become. Jean, "Mrs. Morrell", and no, even as I got older and grew up, I was never comfortable referring to them as Harvey and Jean, it was always "Mr. Morrell" and "Mrs. Morrell", never could quite get used to calling her "Jean" or calling him "Harvey". Can't explain it. Not going to try. I accept it and Love it. What "Mr. Morrell", Harvey, meant to me, he inspired me. He was an influence for me, to enter the military, and later to be in Law Enforcement. I am where I am, because of him, he's a part of my life. I will never forget that. He gave me something, and that's what makes it great. I only hope that I can pay it forward to someone else. I don't see his passing as a loss, don't get me wrong, he will be missed, I will miss him, but he gave so much to so many of us, I know what he gave to me, and it's mine. Mourn his passing, but in the meantime, should this man have touched your life at some point, give thanks, I do. God Bless.
Rest in peace chief thank you for your service
