Obituary of Jean Speck
Jean Speck, 85, of Freehold Township passed away at Applewood Estates, Freehold Township on Thursday, March 29, 2018. She was born and raised in Newark and had lived in Belleville throughout the 1940’s. Jean then lived in North Caldwell and Toms River before settling in Freehold Township. She was a teacher in Montclair for 10 years and a teacher and administrator for 35 years in the Morristown School District until her retirement in 1999. Jean received her Bachelor’s degree from Caldwell College and her Master’s degree in education from Montclair State College. She was a parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, Freehold Township.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Walter Robert Speck in 2014. She is survived by her sons, Chris Speck and his wife, Olga of Dublin, OH, Greg Speck and his wife, Jeanette of Freehold Township, and Eric Speck of Jersey City; six grandchildren, Lauren, Caroline, Courtney, Steven, Gary, and Naomi; a sister, Mary Longo of Flemington; and two brothers, Ottavio Tassielli of Phoenix, AZ and Frank Tassielli of East Hanover.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 9:00 AM for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
