Mary Joan Hulsart, 77, of Tinton Falls passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was a graduate of Rutgers University and was a dedicated school teacher for Howell Township Public Schools for 33 years. Mary Joan’s personal attention to her students and ability to go above and beyond was like no other. Whether she was taking students to sporting events, camping, or simply out for ice cream at Hoffman’s, she created a family outside of the classroom. Her teaching will be forever remembered as unique, passionate and most of all, impactful.
Mary Joan was a lifelong resident of the Jersey Shore and spent her childhood summers with her family at Island Beach State Park. She had a passion for traveling and camping, especially at Assateague Island National Seashore, Maryland, where she camped out every summer since 1969. Mary Joan enjoyed gardening and was notorious for her love of arts and crafts, owls, and her Himalayan feline companions. Mary Joan was a loving and caring aunt and great aunt. She was a “YYYOWL”
