Obituary of John Anthony Tjon

John Anthony Tjon, 81, of Jackson passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 1, 2018.  He was born in Suriname in South America, raised in California, lived in Staten Island and moved to New Jersey in 2012.  John loved going to the beach, especially the Bahamas.  His hobbies included his tropical fish aquarium, fishing and boating.  He was great with his hands, could rebuild or fix anything, and was known as “Poppy Fix It”.   

John is survived by his adoring wife of 56 years, Adeline Tjon, of Jackson; daughter, Karen Leschak and her husband, John of Jackson; son, Kurt Tjon and his wife, Sheila of Howell; five grandchildren, John Leschak, Jr. and his wife, Yuri of Freehold Township, Peter Leschak of Sea Girt, Ashley Tjon and her wife, Penny of Norfolk, VA, and Caitlin Tjon and her partner, David of Staten Island, and Taylor Tjon of Staten Island; three great grandchildren, Grace, John and Jaxson. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Friday, July 6, 2018 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson.  Interment will be private. For those who desire, donations in John’s name may be made to the American Legion Cespino-Russo, Attn: Commander Logan, Post #1544, 200 McClean Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305.
