Obituary of Lillian Winthers
Lillian Winthers, 96, of Howell passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at CareOne, Wall. She was born in Asbury Park and had lived in Freehold and Wall Township before moving to Howell. Lillian worked as a welder at Signallite in Neptune for 22 years until her retirement in 1978. She also worked at Freehold Raceway with her husband. Lillian was a member of the Silvermead Community Club, Freehold Township Senior Center, the Mobile Home Association, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas through St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Freehold.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Charles Robert Winthers; her parents, Norman and Ida Megill; grandson, Robert Lloyd Potter; three brothers, Norman, John, and Harry Megill; two sisters, Helen Draper and Mary Scanlon; and a son-in-law, Cecil B. Gravatt, Jr. She is survived by her son, Robert Potter and his wife, Sharon Hart of Lakewood; two daughters, Mary Ann Gravatt of Howell and Marlene Gravatt and her husband, George of Howell; a sister, Joan Bridgeman of South Amboy; seven grandchildren, Karen Lewis and her husband, Robert, Charlene North and her husband, Ronald, Wanda Gerrity and her husband, Steven, George Gravatt, Jr. and his wife, Anna, Wayne Gravatt and his wife, Dawn, Cassandra Melton and her husband, Wayne, and Melissa Ward and her husband, Jack; fifteen great grandchildren, Craig Lewis and his wife, Patricia, Ryan Gerrity, Matthew Gerrity, Jessica Gravatt, Justin Gravatt, Alexandra Fenton, Nicholas Gravatt, Olivia Gravatt, Leah Gravatt, Craig Ryan, Emily Ward, Kevin Ward, Trisha Melton, Katelyn Melton, and Victoria Melton; and two great great grandchildren, Sofie and Liliana Lewis.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Monday, July 16, 2018. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Freehold Township.
