Tomasa “Masin” Mercado, 81, of Milltown passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born and raised in Guanica, Puerto Rico and moved to Brooklyn at the age of 18 where she worked as an assembler for Lark Luggage. Tomasa retired in Puerto Rico and then moved to New Jersey, living in East Brunswick before settling in Milltown. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, going to church, and dancing to salsa music. Tomasa especially loved to entertain for her family and friends.
Tomasa was predeceased by her husband, Francisco Mercado; son, Norman Mercado; two brothers, Geraldino and Luis Medina; and sister, Saida Maldonado. She is survived by her three children, Francisco Mercado, Jr. and his wife, Wanda of Manalapan, David Mercado of Redondo Beach, CA, and Ana Mercado Clarke and her husband, Kevin of Milltown; two grandchildren, Elias Mercado and Anthony Clarke; four brothers, Hector Medina, Gilberto Medina, Charlie Medina, and Ozzie Medina; two sisters, Aracelia and Elizabeth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
