Obituary of Illuminato DiMaria
Illuminato “Louie” DiMaria, 81, of Monroe passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Alcamo, Prov. Palermo, Sicily and came to the United States in 1962. Louie had lived in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn and the Morganville section of Marlboro before settling in Monroe in 2012. He was the owner and operator of Louis & Phillip DiMaria Tile & Marble in Brooklyn. Louie was a parishioner of the Nativity of Our Lord Church, Monroe and formally St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Marlboro. He loved to grow his own vegetables and was a proud “Poppy” to his grandchildren.
Louie was predeceased by his brother, Frank DiMaria and his wife, Frances. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria DiMaria of Monroe; two daughters, JoAnn Weinfeld and her husband, Robert of Perrineville and Louise Falconi and her husband, Ricardo of Freehold; five grandchildren, Nicolette Weinfeld, Marissa Weinfeld, Victoria Weinfeld, Emilia Falconi, and Giovanni Falconi; brother, Filipio “Phillip” DiMaria and his wife, Caterina of Staten Island; sister, Caterina Visco and her husband, Frank of Long Island; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 8:00 AM for the procession to his 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Nativity of Our Lord Church, 185 Applegarth Road, Monroe. Interment will be private. For those who desire, memorial contributions in Louie’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
